This means that quality is not a clear-cut concept but that it is determined by the requirements of you as a customer. What is the right quality for you and which product comes with it? Quality in substrates may be roughly divided into chemical, physical and phytosanitary properties. Is the chemical stability of the material important to you, or is washed or unwashed material sufficient for your goals and do you adjust it yourself using the right fertilisers? What requirements do you set on air content, drainage, physical stability and coarseness of the substrate in relation to the application and the desired volume per plant? Should the material be clean or is the presence of weeds, sand, nematodes and the like acceptable for you? Ask yourself these questions and decide on the basis thereof, which substrate is best suited for you!
Shakti Cocos B.V. has proprietary coir factories in India and Sri Lanka. Owing to our own control on these factories and the production, we are able to supply quality in the broadest sense. Shakti Cocos B.V. can supply coir substrates that are chemically stable by buffering them or by making Shakti Amla® from them. Washed and unwashed materials are also available. The physical stability is achieved by means of allowing the materials to sufficiently age; if this is not so important, we can always look for alternatives by agreement. In the field of phytosanitary properties, the options are more limited; owing to the overall hygiene in the factories and the collective responsibility that we have in not sending undesirable organisms all over the world, we will always do everything possible to keep our materials free from any form of contamination whatsoever. Also important for us is our social responsibility, ensuring good working conditions for our employees with appropriate rewards and freedoms that are taken for granted in our cultures.
Select your desired quality and decide what is important for you.
